    Hi,

I have a Pioneer DVD recorder where I recorded a VR disc (On a DVD-RW).
I made some edits using the recorder and "Finalized" the disc.

Given that when you edit a VR disc, it does not actally "remove" the content, it just tells the DVD player to "Skip" certian parts of the disc.. right?

For some reason, the Pioneer unit will NOT unfinalize the disc.

Is there a computer program that will "Unfinalize" the disc.. or better yet just "Extract" the original VR recording so I can burn the program without the edits?

I tried Isobuser.. and no luck.

Do please let me know if there is anything out there that can do this.

    Thanks,

    Peter

I think the problem is with reading DVD-RW disks. Use DVD-RAM if you can.
Read DVD-RW disk with UltraIso (by making an image) and extract the .VRO file to harddisk. Use Avidemux (free program) to convert .VRO file to .MPG file.

You can't unfinalize. But you could most likely copy the disc to another and NOT finalize the copy.

  4. I've never had this problem however you could try this process.

The VOBs themselves should be complete and unedited. My guess is that when you edit you are just changing the navigation structure of the disc.

So it should be as simple as copy the .vobs to your hard drive and extract the mpgs from them or just reauthor them.

I know that VideoReDo can take a vob and save a mpg because I've used it for that as well as very accurate edits. There is a trial version @ http://www.videoredo.com/Download.htm that will work, keep in mind that you need to register it as a trial to get the trial key to enable it or else it will truncate the saved files.

Then take the mpgs and reauthor them
