  1. Hi,

A buddy recorded something for me on his camcorder. It's one of those that burn the video directly to a small DVD (the type that fit in the center of your CD/DVD drive).

He swears he recorded it correctly. The disc is a Maxell 1.4 GB DVD-R disc. But I cannot read it at all. But my DVD player and the DVD burner on my PC can all types of DVD (+/-, R, RW, etc.)

It's almost as if the disc is blank. I can see the drive in My Computer, but it tells me there's no disc in the drive.

Is there something funky you have to do to access/view one of these small camcorder discs?

    Thanks.

Maybe your buddy has failed to Finalize the disc??

  3. That's what I'm worried about. If he failed to do so, and I have the disc in my possession, is there anything I can do? If I get his camcorder (or a similar one), can I finalize it myself? Or am I SOL since he's ejected it?

I don't know if you need the original Camcorder to finalize the disc or not. Check out this other post. It sounds pretty similar.

  5. Minko,

Thanks. I downloaded isobuster and did find there is data on the disc. Having some problems getting the video off it, but at least it seems like I'm on the right path.

I hope it works for you. Let us know.

If it doesn't work, then I'm sure others that have more personal experience with these disks will chime in.

I suspect it could be finalized if you put it back in the camcorder.
