I have various recordings at different dates, with different artists on each date. I wish to know if it is possible, and how to, create a menu where I can select to see all recordings for a date, or select a specific artist for all of the dates. I have been reading a lot but have not seen (or at least recognised) how to do it. Can anyone give me at least a hint so I can get to the right direction?

Sounds like a simple task for DVD-Lab (among other)
One root menu that lets you select Time or Artist menu
On the Time menu, you make a "pick date" menu, leading to individual date menus, where you list all recordings for that date.
On the Artist menu, you list all artists, leading to one menu for each artist with the recordings for that artist.

Dvdauthorgui for basic dvd authoring .
The gimp , or other for creating menu's (you will need to make chapter menu's as well for what you want to do)
Pgcedit for correcting and editing dvd nav command's ... quick at fixing nav error's .
Koolplaya ... for dvd playback from folder .
Depending on clip type :
If avi ... try the vdub frameserving guide .
If mpeg2 ... try my commercial removal guide .
As for how to go about putting it together ... check out mpeg to dvd easy guide ... advanced is music dvd guide ... serious is slideshow guide .
---------------------------------
The problem is you will want to maybe have .
Function that play's all clip's of one artist .
Function to play clip's from specific date .
And function to play artist clip's , on or from a specified date
Same gose for all artist's , on a specified date , or from .
For me it's simple ... so have a look at these guide's will give you a good starting point ... if you can master these , you can do anything .
