    does anyone know of something that will allow it, ive tried winavi, virtual dub & mpg-vcr

    winavi converts but i got a black screen

    Firstly I'd suggest you give us an outline of why you wish to do this conversion. It may be that you don't need to, or your end goal may provide us with a better line of thinking to go down.

    hi thanks for the reply, i am looking to basically get to a file format that is compatible with Ulead Gif Animator. (from .wmv)

    i also just tried the software Super and that let me convert to avi and both mpg but when i go to load it into Ulead i get 'unable to read video file errors'

    also having trouble with virtualdub and mpeg-vcr, reading my conversions im trying to make

    What about Windows Movie Maker, and outputting to DV ?

    ohh that .dv extension is compatible with ulead?? i cant find a link to the program trying to get sp2, although im sure i even have it -- but i cant seem to find the moviemaker

    I don't know what you mean by a .dv extension - I meant using a DV codec in an AVI container. Windows Movie Maker ships with Win XP and is under Start > Programs > Windows Movie Maker if running V2, or Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Movie Maker if you haven't updated from the shipped version.
