    These guys have some neat direct drive motors. Before I jump into the service manual anyone have issues with unspooling on playback on these? It rewinds and ff fine but play will just unspool and reel doesnt spin.

    I know nothing about these decks, but are belts or rubber wheels still used for some functions, despite the direct drive? I always look to rubber parts first.

    Sort of.. they are dirrect drive and have 3 belts.. 2 loading and one on the carriage.
