Sony DCR-TRVxx or Canon ZR-xx?????

Need to buy a new camcorder.

Both Sony and Canon are coming out with new models for their DCR-TRVxx and ZR-xx lines.

They will be available over the next month or two.

Base on the two current series, my question is which series is most mac friendly?

Which series has the best hardware longevity (won't break in a year or so)????

Well, based off the current series..

That would be the TRV-22 (mine, for instance) I'm using mine w/ my w98
system. User friendly is only a matter of having a cooperative Firewire card.

Example of cooperative ..

* My main pc will not work w/ my TRV-22
* But, my main pc CAN work w/ my Canon ZR-10 (older circuitry)
* My 2nd pc CAN work w/ my TRV-22 :P

As far as opinions go.. based on my experience w/ a Canon and Sony, I would
have to say that Sony 's line of the TRV 's are pretty good.. thanks in part
to the Lens. That was the "key" to Sony's TRV series. There is a definate
difference in picture quality pitted up again each other.

Funny, all I found in the rerun case was this

I checked Consumer Reports prior to buying. I don't always agree with their conclusions, but I have found their collective repair records to be useful and accurate.

Sony, according to CR has BY FAR a better repair record than does Canon.

Just something to consider --- your mileage may vary!

Go with the sony. It has poor indoor lighting performance but the cannon will be much worse. Sony has 1/4.7 ccd and cannon has 1/6 in ccd.
