Please excuse the following ignorance...
I'm unsure as to what the term "realtime editing" means, such as when it is used in the Matrox RT.X100 with Adobe Premiere Pro combo description. So.. what does that mean?
For example, I currently use VirtualDub to do my basic editing, like taking the static off the ends of my home movies. For a 25 min avi it takes me about 5 min 30 sec to cut and save via direct stream copy. Does "realtime editing" mean that process would be shortened dramatically?
Thanks.

It means you can apply effects (usually the ones supplied with the card) and preview them at full speed. Also rendering the final movie should be faster I think.

Special hardware on the card allows you to see the effects in real time.
Without such hardware, you would have to sit back and let the CPU render first, which takes time. Not realtime.
What you are doing right this minute is as fast as it's going to get. That's not an effect. Sit back, have a drink, and wait.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Yeah, but you're right..The biggest advantage is playing around the timeline, and effects, without the hassle of waiting for rendering..
It speeds up your workflow for sure
