I hate it. I used to have it all the time back in junior high, grew out of it in high school, and now I can feel it coming back. I have a huge physiology exam in a few minutes and I think I'm prepared, but I feel like I should study some more. I hate school.

Sorry, just had to get that out.

    good luck ..

I would study all the way until 1/2 to an hour till the test ...I would be on campus and just take a walkman and take-it-easy and would listen to easy music while I think about what I studied.......I would always laugh at others running in with books, thinking they were going to learn everything in the last 5 min. by absortion or osmosis..I guess they must of considered me a dick as I walked in and sat down as I keeped listening to music until the test was passed out..

Hmmm... maybe I should have tried that. I used to smoke a big fat bob marley and then study for and hour and then munched out in the kitchen....

    Hang in there!

I used to hit the arcade about an hour before the exam - 45 minutes of mindless video seemed to help relieve the stress of the impending exam.

  8. I know exactly how you feel, Devanshu. It'll be fine - don't worry. I know that physiology is a pain in the arse, too!

I tend to do light revision on the day of the exam, then in the two hours before it begins I will stop, eat something, have a shower and play UT2004 or Need For Speed to relax me.

    Hope it goes OK!

I got a 98/100. I missed one question because I didnt read it through all the way. The question was about a damage to the spinal cord in a certain area and he wanted to know what kind of damage it would do...the right answer was 85% flaccid paralysis which wasnt on the test. Insead, he put 85% spastic paralysis. Of course, I looked at the 85% and moved on. Oh well...as long as it's an A I'm happy.

    Suck it up.

    Anxiety is self imposed.

Relax. So what if you fail? The sun will come up tomorrow won't it? It's not your entire grade. So what are you so worried about? Shoot, unless it's math class you should be able to bullshit your way to a "C".

Most of the time, that's exactly what I do. For some classes however, it's hard not to worry. Maybe you havent noticed, but medical schools in the country are pretty damn competitive. And since Dr. Pflanzer is on the admissions committee for the school I want to go to, I'd look kinda bad if I fail his class. Each test is about 25% of the grade and if you bomb one, you're down to a C. In a 5 credit hour class, that C will rape your GPA.

Maybe you should take one of Dr. Pflanzers tests...if you dont know it, you WILL fail. Also, his class has the highest fail rate on campus (I've heard 56%).

Maybe that's kind of the point of education...you know...learrrrning If you don't know it you should fail...hence the meaning of test.

    Do you know the material?

If you don't...well that's a problem...be sick on test day.

If you do...well then I'm still not seeing the problem.

I have kids with "test anxiety" and it is real, I know it is. That's why when I give them their first or 2nd test, I don't tell them it's a test. I tell them it's a worksheet and I even write something like "Integrated Math Chapter 4 Worksheet" at the top as the title. Afterwards I tell them it was a test. I always make it due at the end of the period and I make them work on it.

In an experiment performed in my classes, with current students, on average the grades were 23 points higher on the worksheets than on the forms Titled test. After the experiment we discussed why I got the results I did, as a learning experience. So....as I said before....relax. If anxiety is self imposed then quit imposing it on yourself. If you go through life worried about dying then you fail to live.

It's only a test, if it had been an actual emergency there would be blood spewing all over the place because you put extra pressure on yourself during your first surgery and cut a main artery that you didn't know was there because you failed the damn test in Dr. Pflanzer's class. Don't spew blood all over the operating room ....pass the ******* test.

I have to disagree NC. I once BS'ed my way through a math test. It was many years ago in algebra. I started the question fine, but then got really lost, and in the end, my answer was 6=9. Don't ask me how I got that screwed up, but it was a 10 point question, and by the work shown, I still received 7 out of the 10 points for the question!

I was just saying that you cant BS your way through that class.

Anxiety works for me. I hate it, but it works. I've tried to study for exams weeks before the actual date, reviewing along the way, the whole deal. But I find that if I study the day before the test, I get better grades. I work better under pressure than I would if it was in a normal situation.

    Oh well in that case:

OMG Devanshu you better not fail that test, even the entry level freshman could pass that test. Failing that test is going to lead to you getting kicked out of school. Out of work and not smart enough to pass a test, you'll be unemployed, you'll be a bum. Walking the streets, sleeping under bridges, eating out of trashcans. I don't want to put any pressure on you but your entire future depends entirely on the outcome on that test. So STUDY MAN STUDY your entire future, the future of your trophy wife and 2.3 children are depending on you.

<was just trying to lessen the anxiety before, but since you want pressure...>

If you like pressure, why not just wait until there is 20 minutes left in the period before starting the exam?

  27. The trick I find to doing well in tests is being confident that you're going to pass it and that you know the material.

I know way too many people that are smart and should pass with flying colours fail because they have a nervous breakdown about the test.
