  1. Hi, for those of you that like to store or backup things on CDs should know this. Never use Acer brand blank CDs to do the backup, especially if you want your backup to last longer than 4 years. Acer brand blank CDs degrade after 3-4 years. I’m sure you know that if a CD degrades it is useless, especially if the degrading spreads towards the data region of the CD. Use other different brands of CDs to do the backup, don’t use Acer brand blank CDs, not even Acer brand re-writeable CDs, they all suck. Also don’t even think of trying to get a replacement for these degraded (faulty) CDs, they don’t give a dam. I’ve contacted them twice via the Acer official site e-mail address, but they never reply. If you like to take a look at the pictures please go to this site
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AcerCDRSux/
you have to log into your yahoo account first then click join group. After that you can view the pictures in the photo section on the left hand side. If you don’t have a yahoo account just create one randomly and then join group, after that you can view the pictures.
One more thing you should know about, all these CDs that have degraded have been kept at optimum storage condition. That means it’s stored in a Cool, dry, dark place. Also the CDs are all in near perfect condition, hardly a scratch, no finger prints, no oil smears.

Gee that is wonderful. It's a shame that Acer....along with probable 95% of companies that sell blank media.....don't actually MAKE the media they sell. They buy it from someone else and put their name on it.
Just like DVD media....there IS an identifier for CD's as well....though I doubt it will be anywhere near as accurate as a DVDIdentifier.

  3. At least Verbatim replace the faulty ones that I had. I told them about the faulty Verbatim CDRs that I had in my storage and it's degraded, then they told me to send it to them and they will replace it with a full new set of 10 blank CDs. Verbatim customer service is good, and their product guarantee is 100% assured or they'll replace it.

Now you've had bad Verbatin AND Acer media. You either have shit for luck or shitty storage techniques.

  6. What storage technique? there is no storage technique. You just store the CD in a cabinet or some sort of case. Where can you store it in? A air ventilated, moisture and temperature controlled room? Yea right, getting one of this room build will cost heaps and so as maintenance.

He meant leaving it on a car dashboard or with sunlight shining on it in the house, or a number of other no-nos. He's just trying to be helpful.

You'd be surprised what some people do to their DVDs, and wonder why they don't play anymore

    I'm just quoting YOU:

Did you forget already that you had typed this nonsense just one day ago? Is the above bullshit statement what you told Acer? It sounds like you took it straight from the package. One of you (Acer or you) are full of shit.....and judging by what you have typed so far....Hmmm.
