  1. I have a bin and a cue. I go to Nero, cancel wizard and choose burn image. I then choose the cue/biin (forget which one now) and the CDR disc burns fine and dandy.
When I put the disc in my DVD player, I get a message saying that there's no disc.

I also can't play it on my pc through windows media player.

    Perhaps I'm missing something?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

what are the bin and cue files of? use Damon tools to mount the image to hard drive and see if it plays like that.

  3. Movie.

I can't play it even after I use Daemon tools and mount. WMP just indicates that it is connecting but nothing happens.
    Is it the files?

  7. I've tried burning it on multiple burners and still the same problem.

If it isn't a movie, how would you handle burning it? Any differently?

  8. You don't have any decisions in burning bin/cue files. Nero will use the bin/cue files to create the same type of disc as the source.

i would mount the bin file w/ daemon tools and explore the contents of the disc. if it doesnt work mounted then its corrupt and burning to a disc will change nothing.

You can also hang them on the rearview mirror in your car. Tres chic

  11. My guess. The bin/cue files contain SVCD. This is mpeg-2 and you have no mpeg-2 decoder installed. Try the trial versions of PowerDVD or WinDVD to play these disks.

Your DVD player needs to support SVCD too. It also needs to be able to read CDR or CDRW.

  12. Update:
I got a completely different bin/cue and tried it again using Nero. It wouldn't play in my TV's DVD player (Zenith 318). However, I can get it to work in the Nero viewer with all the plug-ins installed. It will not play in media player or my dvd at my tv. THe dvd player is brand new and is supposed to play just about anything

Is it possible to put the bin/cue into a different format or something like that? Or take the mpeg that is created on the CD and change that somehow?

    THanks for all your help.

  13. Have you actually confirmed your DVD Players can play VCDs and SVCDs?
Look to the left under DVD Players and search for your DVD brand and model

  14. According to the list it's supposed to work on my DVD player. But remember, it also won't play on my computer DVD player thru media player.

  15. Extract the mpge from the bin file using IsoBuste. Select 'filter only M2F2 frames'. See if that mpeg will play.

  16. Sweet. I'll give it a try.

  17. Ok, now I can play it in media player.

So, what exactly does that mean? What should I do now?

OK, so your PC has the right kind of codec (mpeg-1 or 2.

Try WinDVD for playing from the CD, if that is what you want.

As to your standalone, it might be fussy as to what type of CD media it likes. Try a different brand, slower burning speed or a CDRW to see if you can find out what it likes.

BTW, the DVD players list is not clear to me as to wether your player handles SVCD.

  19. THanks.
    I'll try different media.

I think the EEPROM needs to be modified for SVCD. If what I have is SVCD, how do I make it a VCD?

  20. Too much trouble with no payback since you reduce video and audio quality by converting from SVCD to VCD.

  21. FYI - There's a hack for my DVD player so it will play SVCDs. I can't imagine why it wouldn't already be set to do that but oh well.
Thanks for the tips. I'll give it another try this evening.

Find out what you have by opening it in bitrate viewer. If it is mpeg-2, or the res is 480*480 or 480*576, it is SVCD.

To make it VCD, you need to re-encode.

You could try the VCD header trick. Do a forum search for 'header trick' for details. Basically this is a method of persuading players like yours to play SVCD by making them think they are playing VCD.

  23. All fixed!

I ran the hack for SVCD support on my player and now I'm playing SVCDs!

Still don't know why media player can play them. Perhaps I need some codecs?

  24. Ditch WMP and look for PowerDVD or WinDVD.

  25. I posted in another section that I can't play any dvd's for some reason in windvd or power dvd. I keep getting the create overlay error.

I've checked directx and direct accelation is unavailable. I don't know how to make it available. Plus, I think remote desktop might be causing some probs but I don't know how to turn that off.

  26. To play VCD or SVCD never use mediaplayer. It's a crap piece of software.

Use a Software DVD player like windvd or powerdvd.

FOr your overlay problem, try updating you display drivers.

  27. I just updated the drivers but that didn't do any good.

Could it possibly be the card? It's not that old. I have a geforce 4 ti4200.

  28. Try videolan as a player. It is free and may be less likely to have conflict. If you hear sound and see no video, try full screen playback.
