    Hello,

Last night I saw Phil Collins in concert at the Palace of Auburn Hills (where the Detroit Pistons play). Man that was incredible. I have 2 of his concet dvds and this was better than those combined. He started out with a drum duo and started with "something happened on the way heaven".

It was amazing. He was on full power all night. He did the drums quite a bit. And his perfomance of "In the Air Tonight" was phenomenal. My concert had a two level stage. His drum set was placed on the upper level. When the song started the lights were low and the smoke was started. The spot lights were slowly moving back and forth toward the audience. The video screen was in black and white and SLOW MO! When the guitar kicked in everybody cheered. His drum playing was trully sensational. They even had the video display behind him showing sparks of lightning. The lights flashed with every drum beat.

Unfortunately he did say again that this will be his last concert tour (say it ain't so Phil!). If it is this was worth every penny. I have most of his cds and 2 concert dvds. He will never be forgotten. Here's the concert playlist (it's not in order but the songs are more or less in order).

SOMETHING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO HEAVEN
    HANG IN LONG ENOUGH
    I MISSED AGAIN
    ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE
    ONE MORE NIGHT
    MISUNDERSTANDING
    YOU'LL BE IN MY HEART
    CAN'T STOP LOVING YOU
    IN THE AIR TONIGHT
    DANCE INTO THE LIGHT
    WEAR MY HAT
    YOU CAN'T HURRY LOVE
    TWO HEARTS
    EASY LOVER
    GROOVY KIND OF LOVE
    TRUE COLORS
    SUSSIDO
    COME WITH ME
    TAKE ME HOME

It was a lot fun. For the first curtain call the roar from the crowd was defeaning. It might have been louder than when the Pistons won the championship this year (I wasn't there but the tv broadcast was loud) - this was maybe a minute or two long and incredible. He came back out and did COME WITH ME and TAKE ME HOME (a different version with him on bongos and unique beat that wasn't in the other live performances or the studio track).

He is my second favorite artist under ROXETTE (my first). He is a great performer. Though oddly he didn't play the piano all night (unlike in the Serious Hits Live concert dvd from 1990 - but he didn't play the piano in the 97 Live and Loose in Paris). It was a great night all around. I wish those who like his music have had a chance to see him perform live. It is something special. If you haven't buy his concert dvds. The 5.1 sound mix is just perfection and the drum beats really come through clearly with some punch.

Thanks for reading and letting me share this with others who might be interested.

It is called his first final farewell tour.

He will have a second. Most stars do.

Look at cher. She has been saying goodbye for years.

    Hello,

Well I hope it's not his last. In fact most of his original touring band was there. That was fun to see Leeland Sklar with the long beard. And that great guitarist Darrel Struemer.

I share your sentiment and wholeheartedly agree with you.

Once he makes another album, he will probably go on tour again.

I saw him at the Waldbühne in Berlin for his farewell tour. It was quite depressing actually cause Berlin has always had a soft spot for PC. It was sad to see him say goodbye to Berlin. Seeing that made me think it just may be his farewell tour. His hearing is not good anymore and he has more money than Paul McCartney (well almost)......so I think the "Farewell" may be real....at least for some parts of the world anyway...

I happen to find him one of those performers who produced one average record and one reasonable one for every five he produced (sussudio I bought, and I loved the flip, the man with the horn, in fcat I really liked that whole era, late '80's?) and find him someone who should have quit a while ago.
My best friend has seen him on his UK leg and loves him madly and saying that, knowing it was his last tour I wouldn't have minded popping along (although not at the ticket price, not worth that price!)
