  1. I'm hoping someone can help me with this...

I want to encode a timeline from Premiere Pro to .VOB so that I can burn to DVDs. I can do this by using P-Pro to encode to .mp2 (.m2v) and then use ProCoder to write the .VOB, or I can use the Procoder plugin within P-Pro and write the .VOB directly from the timeline.

In either case, ProCoder does not give me the option to write the .VOB as progressive scan video. The only interlacing options that are available are the field order...but not the option to de-interlace altogether.

The P-Pro encoder does give me this option when I encode to .mp2, but the option is lost when going to .VOB via ProCoder.

Can you suggest a work-around? Is there other software that I can be using to obtain my objective (encode a progressive scan P-Pro timeline to burn to dvd)?

    Thanks.

you can do it in procoder -- just select a standard mpeg file instead of dvd and set up your settings there -- there is a pretty good de-interlacing filter in the filter settings ...

i assume you mean procoder 2 that is

  3. Thanks for the reply.

I know I can write standard mpegs de-interlaced, however they are not the .VOB files I require for burning dvd movies. I am using Nero for burning, and for DVD movies it will only allow pre-encoded .VOB files.

Unless you can suggest another way to get .mpg files onto a dvd for viewing in a standard dvd player. (play-once is fine, not interested in authoring menus chapters etc. at this point).

    Thanks again.
