  1. This is my first time installing new hardware, so please bear with me. I recently bought an ATI TV Wonder PCI card. I started off by removing my computer cover and installing the the capture card into the empty PCI expansion slot. I put the computer cover back on, made all the necessary cable connections, and turned on my computer. According to the manual, once I turn on my computer, Windows is supposed to detect/identify the new hardware automatically. However, the "New Hardware Found" dialogue box does not appear when I start up Windows. I've also tried running the ATI Multimedia Center 7.1 package that was available on the ATI's website. However, the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialogue box also fails to appear when I restart Windows. I'm running Windows ME as my operating system. I've tried reading through posts on this message board, and looked through the ATI website for help, but to no avail. I would appreciate any help that you have to offer.

    Search Comp PM
Go to Control Panel, click on System, select Device Manager (or is it the other way around, haven't use Windows 98 for a while)

If you see any device with Yellow Exclamation Mark or Yellow Question Mark, mark it by clicking on it, then select remove, then select refresh. Windows should start searching for Plug & Play Device, this is when you should have the install CD ready. Just follow the instructions and you should be able stall the softwares for ATI TV Wonder.

If nothing happens, then you should remove the PCI Card & re-insert. Make sure the card is inserted tightly.

Windows should be able to recognize the Plug & Play device, if still doesn't work, you may have a faulty card.

  4. siaododo: Tried looking in Device Manager, but no devices with yellow icons next to them are present. Clicking on Refresh also failed to get Windows ME to detect the new hardware. I also tried re-inserting the card into the slot, and even trying to insert it into another PCI slot, but I didn't have any success.

LatinGuyver: I'm willing to try what you're suggesting, but the only problem is that I don't know how to do it. Could you please elaborate?

    Thanks for your replies.

  5. umm i think you need a special version of mmc for tv wonder card check on that at http://support.ati.com/identify/tvtuner_profile.html

and the hardware not being detected could be either old bios or motherboard chipset incompatible with ati (Known By experience) or worst .. bad tv wonder card.. .. make sure u read the Technical Issues with your model at the page.
