  1. Ive got a bit of a dilemer, Harry Potter 3 is released on DVD novemeber 11th and I got ready to pre-order on play.com when I checked playusa.com I noticed 2 days later on there release there doing a 'Fullscreen' version and Id much rather have that, Because stupid widescreen has been forced onto us brits an we don't get a choice anymore, but something tells me this one of those DVD's that's going to have RCE (Film makers being selifish b******* protection) its when they won't play on muti-region player, It may not as its comes out here 1st but I like fullscreen better (don't give me tehcical stuff about it being better) I know what I like so don't really know what to do now
DVD region settings are a joke, I can't believe how stupid people are falling for it

  3. Why not save your money and get the Live Aid DVD out on the 10th November instead. Then get a secondhand version of HP fullscreen off of Ebay after Christmas.

  4. Just to fling in a few cents: I really didn't like the third film as much as the first two. It was OK, but I'm sure it could've been much better (say, if Chris Columbus had done it!). Really, what I couldn't understand was how they could hand the reins over to some Mexican director dude who made nothing but low-budget films, prior. The day before the film release back in June, the Boston Herald had printed part of an interview w/ him where he stated that he had never read a HP book in his life nor seen the first two films prior to getting on the project.

First of all, it wasn't even as long as the first two. Harry's Patronus is supposed to be a stag (whereas in the film it was just a bright flash of light; almost like they just flipped on a huge spotlight off-camera after Harry said the incantation). They made largely Malfoy a coward! And Dumbledore? He looked like one of ZZTop in this one!!

Close look: the Knight Bus, anyone notice it was driving on the wrong side of the road (for UK, anyhow)?

But I WILL add it to my collection for a complete set. And it will be the Widescreen edition! :P
Like a flea circus at a dog show!

The knight bus is magic and just weaves in out of the traffic and drives on the side which has the least muggle traffic on,

also great that you want it widescreen but its not fair your given the choice and us brits are forced into Widescreen or nothing

  7. Its personal taste, don't like it simple as you like something or you don't I personaly don't like 2 thick black lines and a sqashed picture and would have a whole picture... hate this ''oh its ok no-one wants films in fullscreen anymore, widescreen is better" because I disargee it looks crap and would rather have things in full screen

*note all my dvd backups, ive streched them into fullscreen

Harry potter is a favourite film(s) of mine, and have the 1st in fullscreen well p**sed when I could'nt get 2 in fullscreen. so im jumping at maybe being able to go to it for 3

I have to agree with jumbo. Some movies aren't sawed off too bad, but some - like the Cecli B. Demille classics of the '50s and '60s are like watching through a tank gun slit. It's terrible.

Whenever my wife and I look for DVDs, it's always Full Screen (or 2-sided dual screen). We'll only buy a wide screen if we have no choice, hoping it won't be an extreme one.

  10. Ive pre-ordered the region 1 fullscreen version from playusa.com, as it comes out worldwide with just days between different region releases i don't see the need for RCE on any of them

I would like to comment on the quality of the movie, I think that it was botched as well.

They should have done a little more with the quidditch considering the fact that they won the cup in this book (1, Harry misses the final matches, 2 the games are cancelled, 4 no quidditch at all, 5 harry is kicked off the team) and that Sirius gave him the Firebolt, really that seemed like it was tacked on for a cheesy ending.

  12. I thought they did very well getting the book to the screen in my opinon, I find it faithful enough, Im a die hard Bewitched fan and im diguested with the scprit of the movie 'remake' (i use that word lighty) but thats a whole new can of worms ... Fair enough they cut alot out and changed things but I think Harry Potter 3 did well as a movie
