The first 100 Maxells I bought were media code TYG01. Superb! No coasters.

THe second 100 I bought had two 25-spindles with TYG01 media and two with RitekG04 media. Again, the TY media was superb, but as soon as my wife started using the Ritek-coded media on the Panny E50 standalone, errors!

My Pioneer 107D on the PC still likes them fine, but now I have to buy only TY media for the standalone. I think when the Maxells are gone I'll start using exclusively TY brand media and not have to guess.

The good thing is I found TY media for as low as $1.09/ea at meritline, which makes them actually cheaper than the Maxells which are about $1.40/ea

Is there something wrong with buying from Rima? They have TY branded for .85c, I bought some from Rima.com and they work great. This is something like 22% cheaper than the meritline price you quoted.

In my experience with standalone players from Pioneer, Onkyo, Sony, Magnavox, Toshiba, and Panasonic....only the Panasonic players are CONSISTENTLY picky about home-brew burnt discs. I have a buddy that has a four year old Panasonic player that is especially a pain in the butt. He used to gripe about discs that I gave him. Finally I just gave him a $79 Pioneer unit that plays everything perfectly, just to shut him up! He is happy now.

I have a Panny DMR-E30 and have not had a single problem with my Riteks (G03 and G04). FYI, I only use branded RiData G04s - not the other RiTeks.

Also, my Panny plays the cheapo Sonic media from Shop4Tech without a problem either.

I'll have to give them a try. Thanks

Depending on your burner - if you can use them, the 8x Ty discs are only $.04 more at Rima ($.89 per disc in packs of 100 vs $.85 for the 4x).
