Hi all,
First off, I want to say thank you, this site has been a tremendous help.
I'm having a few problems that are driving me nuts, and I hope someone would be kind enough to help out.
I have been converting pal avi's to ntsc dvd's. For the last week, I could not figure out why I had no audio. I figured it was a conversion problem. Somehow, they started working... I must have missed a setting somewhere along the way while being half asleep in Besweet.
I am doing this on two pc's. And both had the problem, where they would play find in DVD Author, sound and all, but when viewed in WinDVD, there was no sound. Only one actually worked in WinDVD and that was a non pal-ntsc conversion. Now, when I open the the Video_Ts file in DVD it plays with sound on one pc, but not on the other. So I am guessing it's a codec issue. But... I have the same codec's on both pc's.
The final dvd's were authored with AC-3 audio. Any suggestions on what to check? Or as to why this might be happening?
2nd question. I have a dvd from a friend. It's one of those 7$ screeners. I have been so desperate, I have been trying to reverse engineer this dvd.
This dvd plays fine on both my pc's. When I opened vob's 1_1 thru 1_4 of this dvd with gspot, It lists "Audio Media - MediaSubtypeDVD_LCPM_Audio" with amoonlight odio dekoda for the codec.
Now when I open the same vob's on my dvd, it says Mediasubtype_dolby_ac3".
Using Besweet, what output would be "LCPM" ??
Also, as long as my authored DVD is has AC3 audio, the audio will be compatible with any dvd player, correct?
3rd question. I have a couple of SVCD and VCD images that I want to convert to DVD as well but I ran into this problem.
The original svcd or dvd, don't remember which, been stuck on the first problem so long I don't recallso please help with both if there is a difference, played in 16:9 widescreen format. When I ripped the mpg out with ISO buster and viewed it, the imaged became boxed. I recall reading that there is a difference in the way svcd and vcd files are formatted, I just want to know if there is a way to maintain the widescreen format, without spending 8-12 hours re encoding the mpg.
5th Question. I have one that has audio out of synch. The voice is 2 seconds earlier that the frame. I tried in besweet to append 2 seconds to it (2000) miliseconds, but didnt see any difference?
Did I do something wrong? suggestions?
6th question. I have one dvd that I authored and did not set the max gop. DVD Author is complaining. I ignored it, but what are the chances that it will not play on a dvd? Is there any way to fix the gop on it? Rather than spending another 12 hrs reencoding it?
7th question. Since I am only burning avi's, svcd, vcd, etc... would the burn speed make a difference? I see some recommend to stay at 2.4, but I since this is not dvd quality, I'm not sure if there would be any difference. I'm making these for a couple of friends and to send to my dad, so I don't know what kind of dvd players will be used, so I guess I want to make them as compliant as possible.
And finally... lol, sorry, have added 3 questions since I first posted
Since I am low on drive space, I have to burn some of the files to free up room. Should I burn the video the Audio and TS folders that I used to create the disc, or can I just pull them off the dvd I created later if I need to make a copy. Is there any difference between them when they get burned to dvd?
Thank you so much for any help you can give me,
Mog
