It's a decent price and from what I have read Toshiba and Hitachi are some of the better rear projection digital TV's.
What do you think?

output is always interlaced except in 540p mode (SD) ...

Sounds like it is a pretty good model. Also sounds like it needs some tweaking out of the box to get the best picture possible but that's not really a big problem.Originally Posted by BJ_M

There's also this one I am looking at but I can't seem to find any reviews on it to know how it does. I will be going to look at them next week and compare and hopefully buy. I am just trying to do some comparing now of specs and such to know which one fares better.

If you can save another $500-$1000, you might as well go full projection on a HDTV projector. There are some really great reviews on them, but alas, my wife thinks our TV is big and good enough for our lifestyle. my retort, of course, was, "I won't be happy till I have my personal 4-story IMAX room with 10k watt super fidelity theater system. And of course, the first movies I have to watch on it are TOP GUN, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars movies. My wife thinks we should pay off our truck first. You can get a Samsung 50' dlp Hd for about $1100 more. If you can afford it, I would go with that. I has going to get a HD projection until I saw the DLP next to one in the store. Noticeable difference.

Well as much as I wouldn't mind going to that, I can't afford it. I have to stay in the $1300-$1500 budget. But I would be happy with a 46 or 48" television either way. :P

and of course with a projector you also need a screen, and replacement bulbs. and somewhere to mount the projector too, wheras a TV you just dump in the corner and be done with it

We have some of the projectors at work. You really doon't have to worry too much about replacement bulbs with the good quality projectors, unless you move it around constantly. But at home, why would you be moving it constantly? I liked the thought of it because you don't have the space taken up that a large screen TV takes up. However, I'm happy with my big screen and don't plan on getting a new one any time soon. The one I have now is nice because I can lock the control panel on the TV with a key to keep my kid from turning it off and switching the channels.

if a bulb lasts 10,000 hours and you watch five hours a day (think about weekends, sick days, and weeks off here. or wife/kids during the day, it could be a lot higher. main tv in this house sees 7 hours weekdays and probably 12-13 weekends) you'll get about five years use. now if your bulb is only rated for 3,000 hours it's a new bulb 18 months. in my house we'd need a new bulb every 357 days

One projector here at work has a 30k hour bulb. I think it's a Sharp if I remember. The bulb is only $180 and should get a bit cheaper as time goes by. You watch a lot of TV. I only watch my movies and shows I'm really interested in on the big screen. For everything else, I have a 29" TV off to the side of the big screen. It's nice at SuperBowl time, so we can keep an eye when to change the Big Screen back to the game. During the Half Time show, we usually pop in 'Wallace & Gromit' and have a few laughs as a big group. -

Probably a year in my case. I usually only watch about 2-3 hours a day and maybe a few more on the weekends. I roughly guesstimate about 4-5 hours a day on average. Again, most of my viewing comes from movies and a lot of my viewing time is spent in theaters, so I don't think it's going to change much for me if I had one. The only thing that would change my viewing habits would be an IMAX theater built onto my home. I will say, I've "borrowed" a work projector to prepare for a meeting, but watched TV and movies at home with it a bunch of times. Lord Of The Rings is Great with a 9' WS view on your wall. My wife just gets upset if we have company to watch movies because she has to iron our Cal. King bed sheet. I'm planning on putting up some cup hooks on the wall and pot riveting brass O-rings to the bed sheet for possible future projector use.Originally Posted by flaninacupboard

We don't really use that sheet for anything else. We have darker colored sheets on our bed to hide stains if I feel like dipping in the paint when that time of the month comes. Our bedroom also has the antiquated style to it so it's dark walnut and mahogany colors along with maroons, hunter greens, and dark blues all patterned together.
