  1. I haven't seen any posts lately regarding Matrix media. I pretty much use this media exclusively for DVD backups and have yet to have issues. I use the more named brand stuff like Verbatim, Ritek and Taiyo Yuden for more important things. I'm thinking now though that it may not be worth the extra $$$ for those name brand disks when these Matrix disks work so great. I did some research and downloaded that Kprobe program which shows very low read errors for the Matrix disks with my Lite-On 163. Point is though that these disks seem just as great if not even better then the name brand stuff so I might buy a bunch.

I don't need disks this second as I just got my shipment of Riteks from shop4tech and saw that they are now offering a 10% coupon on them. Of course they are after I purchased them. That's ok, i'm going to email shop4tech and see if they will honor it on my next order.

But has anyone else recenly used the Matrix disks from shop4tech? If so please write yer results.

What kind of burner do you have and are these Matrix + or -?

  3. I've been using the Matrix 4x DVD-R media with a BTC 1004I with excellent results - nearly 100% success (1 bad burn out of >75).

Much better than some other media like Fry's GQ and Optodisk.

I recently had 15 Matrix discs sent to me. 14 out of 15 were bad. Worst crap I've ever seen.

  5. I use a NEC2500a and I bought a 25 pack of Matrix from shop4tech, so far 15 out of 15 has been perfect burns all the way to 4.30 gigs(default I set in shrink). Gonna try the +R's next, only reason why I have a hacked firmware in my NEC that allows me to burn 4x media at 6-8 times and so far any +R's I have tried at those speeds have been fine, example, TDK, Memorix and GQ, so I'll get the matrix 4x and see how they do at 6-8 times.

Split a 50 pack with a friend a whiile back, but wasn't using them much because I still had a bunch of +R Rocoh left over. Now I find most of them will error if I burn at 4x.

That's because they're actually LONGTEN media. The worst DVD-R media ever unleashed on the masses.

The batch of Matrix media they were selling at a local Asian mall had LONGTEN 02 IDs. They were silver and unbranded except on the packaging of the bulk spindles. Tried a few samples, as I always do. Doesn't that nomorecoasters website list Matrix as having a Longten ID? I didn't check all my samples. Just the first disc.

Yeah. I was referring to the media ID, not the brand. Guess I needed to be more clear. LONGTEN is also garbage, though I've not touched them in a while. To be honest, I keep forgetting "Matrix" is also the name brand. I now wonder which (ID or brand?) the original poster was asking about.

    MATRIX, LONGTEN, CMC, whatever. :P

You were clear the first time Smurf! Matrix and Longten brands are obviously made by the same sh*t company. Hence they're use of two media IDs under the two brands. Interchangable. We'll probably soon see the Matrix ID come up when a noob unknowingly buys LongTen brand. Can't blame them for incorporating an alternate media ID with other different lots of the same crap media. Anything to help confuse the consumer right? Easier that changing the formula and making decent media.

Well stop using them to scrub the floor with before you burn them. I bet if you decided you didn't like TY you would say 14 out of 15 were bad. See I am learning from you.
