2 days of this crap! SUNUVA DAM#IT!!! AVI IO CAPTURE, HOWW

I am really getting irritated, i have been trying to capture video for 2 days str8 and still nuthin. I have s studio pctv card and a pentium 2 500 mhz with 13 gig hard drive. I can't even open vitual dub it makes my cpu crash, so i need to capture with sumthin else.(avi io?) I have read EVERYTHING in the how tos, searched high and low and read eeverything, but it isn't helping. I captured a video with the studio software, but the audio is screwed, it doesn't match. I already cut and edited and all that, but that is when i noticed the sound didn't match up so i went back to the avi that i captured, and the sound is screwed there. so now i have to recapture it, encode it to mpeg again, but this time i want the friggin sound to match. HOWWWWWW!!!!!! what should i use to capture? virtual dub won't work either, deleted it, re d/l it, and still freezes my cpu up. need alternate help PLEASE
