  1. I use TmpgEncPlus2.5 to convert DV AVI file to DVD Mpeg2 format file first.
And then author it by Ulead Movie Factory 2 SE.

I find there is converting during Authoring and I am afraid it will make loss of quality when re-convertion.

Any comments? Any authoring software can author without re-converting files. Thank you.

Authoring does not change the video, just arranges it in a format compatable with DVD players.

If it's done properly, that is.

If your mpegs are fully DVD compliant then your authoring package should not re-encode. It will cause a reduction in quality every time if that happens. Try TMPGEnc DVD Author, free trial.

  4. Thank you.

I found the problem was due to Pinnacle Studio 8 but not TmpgEncPlus2.5.

I put the mpeg2 files which created by Studio 8 and by TmpgEnc to generate a DVD disc. The file by Studio 8 need to be re-converted but the file by TmpgEnc is ok (no re-convertion).
