  1. I reformatted my girlfriend's computer about 3 weeks ago. Everything is fine on it now except for when she tries to play DVD's. So far she has tried to play them in Interactual PLayer and Windows Media Player. For awhile she kept getting an error message that said "create overlay failed please lower your screen resolution or color display and try again." She no longer gets that error message. Now when she tries to play the DVD she gets perfect sound, but no video. I thought that the reason might be that she doesn't have a DVD codec. Should I keep trying other dvd players like WinDvd, or Power DVD until I get video, or is there another way to go about fixing the problem?

    Please help

    Thanks,

    Brendan

I would try updating the display adapter driver. Check out the manufacturer's website.

  3. are you sure, because it isn't all video that doesn't work, only when the video is from a DVD. She is able to watch videos off of real one player, she just isn't able to watch DVD's, but the sound on the DVD works fine.
