    Can someone let me know what the region hack will accomplish on my DVD player(Pioneer 343)? Is this necessary?

    Hi,

    If you do the region hack for your DVD player, you'll be able to view DVD's other than your own region.
    Sometimes the Macrovision (Copy protection for VCR's) gets disabled as well.
