  1. part of their week-long memorial day sale. I picked up a spindle today as I needed to backup some stuff before reformatting and 40 cents a disc didn't seem that bad. media code comes up as Princo and although the the packaging clearly identifies the media as 2x, they only burn at 1x in nero and dvd decrypter. I'm not too upset as I needed some media for low priority back-ups and they seem to work well enough. Ironically, my main standalone(older model toshiba) refuses to read maxwell and a newer fuji/ritek spindle I've bought but plays princo fine. sorry if this has already been posted.

out of curiousity, what's compusa's policy regarding misleading/defective media(on account of the media not burning at the speed described). can you only return it for your money back or will they be more generous and let substitute another brand of media for the defective brand(I doubt the latter but just wanted to confirm).

  2. I have burned well over 300 CompUSA 1X DVD-R media and without a single coaster. Funny thing is the 1X media burns at 2x on my 105 and DRU500ax DVD burners. For that price I will be buying 100 tomorrow.

I've returned dvd media to COMPUSA, just make sure you return the coasters too. They will only refund your money with the coasters. I'm not sure if they will substitute another brand of media. I doubt if they would but you never know till you ask. I bought one of those spindles since it was so damn cheap and my plextor burns them ok but my liteon doesn't like them. I use the cheap stuff for movies that I like a little and use the expensive brands for movies I LOVE!

Can't even tell the difference to the naked eye! Backed up some of the cartoon dvds for my niece. Princo discs are good to use for the KIDS!

I bought a spindle yesterday and every program I had them the in said I could only burn at 1X so I took them back. I didn't want to risk burning discs and them not take them back so I didn't even try to burn in my 105. I got a full refund when I returned, no questions asked. I wrote on the reason for return: "False advertising, wrong speed" and the guy typed that into the register as the reason for return. No restocking fee charged either.

  9. I bought two spindles of I believe, 20 about 6 months ago. Was using them and not checking the burns afterwards with DVDinfopro. Thought all was well with my world. However, when viewing the TV shows that I burned, they would start skipping and eventually just stop playing towards the end of the disk. I took the one spindle back that I didn't open. I would be very careful when using these disks. Don't put anything on them that you want to keep and be able to view. They might be okay to put 2 to 2.5 gig on though.

Never ran into that with the 300or more 1X CompUSA DVD-R I have burned. All played just fine in the three players I have at home, in fact I watched one movie tonight that was burned almost a year ago and it was perfect all the way to the end of the disc using my Sony 400 disc DVD changer.

I don't understand. Could you please clarify your position on Princo?
