I'm thinking of getting the 100pk of TDK DVD-r from Best Buy tomorrow/today. I was wondering if anyone has gotten these discs and they have been CMC, I really don't want to take the chance though.

if ever in doubt, ask about their return policy...that makes all the difference.

I've asked before if it was possible to return opened, but unused media, the salesman said yes. Went to take it back to return it, the person at the counter said no, can't take it back. I basically got screwed.

That sucks! I would go back to BEST BUY and ask for a manager, tell them a salesperson told you it could be returned. That's way farked up. Only media I ever returned was MEMOREX DVD+R that was manufactured by CMC which we all know is crappy media. COMPUSA took it back including the coaster I burned. I got my money back and bought IMATION DVD+R which is manufactured by RICOH. Not all MEMOREX is manufactured by CMC.I've asked before if it was possible to return opened, but unused media, the salesman said yes. Went to take it back to return it, the person at the counter said no, can't take it back. I basically got screwed.
Take a look at this thread about TDK 100 SPINDLE @ BEST BUY https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=223699

This is why I use a credit card in these palces. If they refuse to cooperate with returns, my credit card company will tell them where to stick it.

They won't carry the CMC media ID. If it says Made in Taiwan, it is made in one of 2 factory, Ritek (With Ritek G04 MID), or CMC (with TG02 MID). The made in Japan ones will carry a MXLG MID.Originally Posted by nufan292
TDK 4x media, is also made in the CMC plant. These say made in Taiwan, and carry a TTG01 media ID. The made in Japan ones can be TYG01 (Taiyo Yuden) or MXLG02 (Maxell).
Verbatim is also now made in the CMC plant. If the package says made in Taiwan, it will carry the MCC MID. The made in India Verbatims are made by Moser Baer, also with a MCC MID. The best quality Verbatims are the ones made in Singapore, which (confusingly) carry the MCC MID also. -
I was at COMPUSA this morning I noticed SONY DVD-R 4x speed 10 pack jewel case said, "MADE IN JAPAN". Wonders if those are TAIYO YUDEN or MXLG02.
It seems it will get harder to get good quality dvd media in stores like BEST BUY, COMPUSA, OFFICE DEPOT & OFFICE MAX. COMPUSA is having a clearance on the FUJI DVD MEDIA 10 pack DVD+R jewel case for $19.99. Dammit the DVD-R was all gone

dang, $2/disc doesnt seem like a deal to me @ all, unless u really like fuji i guess.Originally Posted by budzYellow-Haired Warrior...Go

They're usually $22.99 - $26.99 for the DVD-R FUJI. I'm just surprised that COMPUSA has the DVD+R as a clearance item for $19.99. It was all of FUJI DVD MEDIA on clearance. Also DVD+/- 50 pack spindle was $69.99. I saw OFFICE MAX has the FUJI DVD MEDIA for $22.66. I have enough FUJI DVD-R (TAIYO YUDEN) and MAXELL DVD-R for now. I buy in bulk when these are on sale at OFFICE MAX & OFFICE DEPOT. Waits to use the COSTCO coupon for TDK DVD MEDIA. Hope it ain't CMC when I open it up!dang, $2/disc doesnt seem like a deal to me @ all, unless u really like fuji i guess.

Rima has TY silver 4x DVD-Rs for $1.15 each, and I get Maxell printables delivered to my door for $125/100. Now, if only Rima would drop the printable TY's another $10 or more per 100
Given the current price of bulk Maxell and TY media, I haven't had a reason to buy branded media for quite some time. -
Best Buy's "salesmen" are usually underpaid teenagers and most don't know what they are talking about. When you go into these stores make sure you know what you are getting...I've asked before if it was possible to return opened, but unused media, the salesman said yes. Went to take it back to return it, the person at the counter said no, can't take it back. I basically got screwed.

Got 10 TDK made by CMC (ID=TG01). I got 2 burns with some issues.
Never got a single prob from TDK media (TY and ricohjpn) before.Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks
Have you noticed that a slight tax increase costs you two hundred dollars and a substantial tax cut saves you thirty cents? -
As i said, it seems we can no longer trust media ID. I used to buy verbatim made in singapore but then came the one made in taiwan with MCC id as wellOriginally Posted by disturbed1
