  1. ok heres the question, i have created a movie using a windows flying text screensaver, by capturing it with camtasia studio while it ran for a minute. the problem is that the backround color is black. what i want to do is take out the backround color and replace it with another. the reason for this project is to make a dvd menu for my sons birthday. i have the movie text saying his name and date. i want to be able to replace the black backround with one of his pictures.
i have thought of taking a screenshot of every frame and opening them in paint and changing the color to transparrent and then replacing it with another backround but there are close to 700 frames and that seems like it will take forever and a day to do them all.

is there any editing program that can do this for me? i really dont want to have to sit infront of my comp for 2days doing every frame.

    thanks for the help

  2. Okay, I am by no means an expert. There are probably better ways to do this but here goes:

    1) Save another copy of the clip. Your goal is to make a mask video.

    2) In Virtual Dub use the Levels filter to isolate the black only. It will take a little fildling to get it just right.

    3) Save the new video which should just be the black area.

    4) Go into AVIsynth and use the layer or overlay command using your new mask.

You may have to reverse the colors. I always get messed up with masks in AVIsynth.

You may also have to make a single frame that is your desired color. It wouldn't be too hard to make an entire clip of just the colored frame using the Logo filter.
