    my burner seems to work error free with "cheap media" i say this because i wasted about 6 TDK dvd-r's and i got some off brand from a friend and I have no problems?

    because some tdk is cmc mag's and thats as bad as cheap media

    You should have checked out the DVD media list first, many TDK really suck, some of their media is at the very lower end. Dont look for brand, look for mediacode/manufacturer ID.
