I've tried using IFOedit, and I am damned if I can do the simplest operations with it, so I guess I am at a loss. I want to back up a DVD that has no chapter stops whatsoever, but I also want to insert stops in scene transitions or just at random time codes. Is this possible? If so, how?

To insert chapters in infoedit open notepad and make frames:
    9000
    18000
    27000
    36000
    45000
    54000
    63000
    72000
    81000
    90000
    99000
    108000
    117000
    126000
    135000
    144000
    153000
    162000
    171000
    180000
    189000
    198000
    207000
    216000
    225000
    234000
    243000
    252000
    261000
    270000
    279000
    288000
    297000
    306000
    315000
    324000
    333000
    342000
    351000
    360000
    369000
    376000
    385000
    394000
    403000
    412000
    421000
    430000
    439000
    448000
    457000
    466000
    475000
    484000
    493000
    502000

so if your dvd is 29.97 fps, 9,000 is 5 minute intervals(29.97x60secondsx5minutes) and then keep adding the frames such as i did till it adds up to the total time of the movie, the frames i showed go over 4 hours, then save the frames as a text file and insert it into the chapter entry in infoedit.

Okay... I've created the text file using PAL frame values for every 2.5 minutes. Problem is, I have no idea how to use it. I've been searching IFOedit for some time and to call the thing counter-intuitive is putting it nicely.

I know I'm being lazy, by the way.

Open ifoedit and then click on dvd author on the top, choose author new dvd and then you will see where you insert video, audio, chapters and subs.

Maybe I should have made this clear from the beginning. I am trying to insert chapters into a backup of a DVD that has none. From this point forward, I honestly feel that anyone in a professional studio who authors a DVD without chapters should be shot. Repeatedly. The difficulty I am having, however, is getting IFOedit to let me insert the values and then produce an output file I can use in DVDShrink or DVDDecrypter. I'm giving up for the time being.
