When I am authoring my DVD’s with TMPGEnc DVD Author everything works fine until it is time to create the output. Upon pressing the output button the program unexpectedly closes without an error message or anything. Just instantly. It does not even appear to try to do anything. Now I can import, create chapters and menus without problems, but I can’t get it to crate an output. I have tried several different films with the same result, so I know it is not something wrong with one particular movie. I have also on some occasions got an error message saying that the bitrate is wrong or something but I think that is related to the fact that TMPGEnc DVD Author does not appear to be reading VBR films very well. Anyways I do not always get this error message so it should not be the problem. Any idea what could be causing this?

No one knows? Oh well. The only reason I a musing TMPGEnc DVD Author anyway is because of the simplicity when creating menus from templates and then modifying them to suit your needs. I have tried other software but have not found anything with such good templates. Most of all I would like to solve this problem but if no one has a clue perhaps somebody might tell me about another piece of software that is as easy?

AC3 could be the problem if you have that type of audio and don't have the plugin. Other than that, you may have a corrupt copy of TMPGEnc DVD Author. Reinstall? You could try a 'standard' mpg file and see if the program still fails. That would tell you if there is something wrong with your files. Also take your video files and check them with VideoToolbox to see if anything is out of line, although I would think if TDA accepts them, they should have worked. Another possibility is that there is a problem with where the files are directed to, the storage drive or folder location. One last thing that I have seen in the past is non-standard symbols in the title or too long a title. About all I can come up with, good luck.

Thanks. AC3 was the problem. Now everything works great. Does anyone know if you can download menu templates for this prog or perhaps DVDlab?
