I know radioshack has them but I read that you need a special one if you have internet running over your cable lines. Something about the booster scrambling the internet signal which then the modem can't recognize but boosting the tv signal in the process. I have a feeling that Insight cable will charge us if we have them come out and install one so I wanted to see if there are any other places I could get one that is compatible with both cable tv and cable internet.

I doubt a amplifier would bother the cable internet signal, but I wouldn't put an amplifier on the line to the modem itself. It's more of a bandwidth problem that a cheaper cable amplifier may restrict than a video problem with interference with the video signal. I have a splitter and the modem signal comes off that to the modem. The other output goes to a amplifier (RS even) and that distributes to 3 TV's and 2 VCR's with no problem. The cable company supplied the splitter. If your modem signal is too low (I don't think that's what you are saying), then that's a problem for the cable company. If you have a low signal level on your cable line, then that's also a problem of the companys.

Well ever since they installed the internet stuff, the signal in some of the first floor tv's has become poorer. I think maybe I should call them first. The internet is fine though, don't want to mess up that. I just want to get rid of some of the grainyness and ghosts that are pretty much on all tv's on select channels. Some channels look great no matter what tv and I'm sure that has to do with the frequency they are on.
