So I picked up a G4 Powerbook for my wife this week. I haven't used a Mac since the first generation of PowerPCs and OS 7.4ish. All I can say is wow!
I really like Panther. At first, I was impressed by the integration of the international menu. My wife is from Japan, so I was planning on reformating the hard drive, partitioning, and installing the English OS and Japanese OS. I asked the guy at the Mac store about it and he showed me how to switch to Japanese.
The screen also adapts to the ambient light levels and the keyboard automatically lights up when the room goes dark. I also love expose. I thought it was stupid, until I actually started using it.
Most of all, I just liked the look and feel of the entire package. It's still not as fast as my pc running w2k, but this machine is a dual cpu rig anyway.
Now that I'm also using a mac, I'm looking for some good links on anything mac related. All of my bookmarks are for pc stuff and I don't really know where to get started, to learn more about OSX and all that jazz. I like using it, but I don't know my way around a mac like I used to.

galactica - It's the 15", 1.25Ghz. I wanted to go for the 17", but this model was already topping out my budget.

I've wanted a mac for a while mainly for video editing/pruducing. From what I've read a PC cannot touch a mac when it comes to pruducing video's.
Is this true? -
Not really. A mac is probably easier.
If you have the same budget, I'd say they're roughly equal in terms of pure processing power. The new dual G5 macs are pretty fast. You would need to build a dual Xeon workstation machine to keep up.
