I can convert to VCD and they play perfectly on my standalone DVD player, the problem is that when I come to make DVD's the ones I make keep stopping and starting, both on my standalone and even on my pc.

I use TMPGenc DVD author, then Nero 6 (Make DVD video option).
No problems in authoring or burning, its just when I come to watch them

I am using DVD +R/+RW, is it a problem with the discs? I went for the more expensive ones so I could erase them as I am a beginner.

Thank you in anticipation for any help and advice recieved......

Using RW's is a good idea but your player may not like them. Have you tried them in another player? What brand are they?

The discs Are PC Line / PCL, they cost me £49.99 for 25, I have tried them in 3 players now and still no joy, like i said they won't even work on my pc........?????

If I watch the encoded file on the pc before I burn to disc, it plays fine...
    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Try burning with TMPGEnc DVD Author, see if that makes a difference.

I tried that one yesterday, still exactly the same.

Think the only thing I can put it down to is the discs, gonna go buy some others tomorrow, heard that bulpaq are cheap and reliable.

I wouldn't go spending more money on discs untill you are sure it's the discs giving you a problem. Check them on a computer or two and see if you can read anything on them in explorer. Try burning some regular data on one and see if you can read it.

If you DO run out and buy more discs, don't go buying the 25 packs.
