I am new here and have read through the rules. I don't really think this is advertising but if it is not ok to post this (or if there is a more appropriate forum), please tell me. No harm intended. I have spent the last year or two on photography forums so the etiquette may be diffrent.
Anyway, just wanted to post a good deal on disks at officemax. They are dvd-r's on sale, 30$ for 50 after rebate(not princo crap). They are these

Actually, they are advertised as kypermedia 4x which was not listed here. I asked on cdfreaks (cause I was already posting about something else) what the media code was for these. It was cmc mag.af1. When you get to the store, they are value disk (which is what is actually in the picture in the add). I got a 50 pack (had a 10$ off coupon, bonus for me). They scan as cmc mag.af1, same as the memorex that I linked to. I actually had a 10 pak of the memorex that I had not even opened yet. The first disk I burned, scanned so unbelievably well, I couldn't believe it (these were actuall memorex but same disk). The second one I burned had high pi(lots of solid areas over 100 and as high as 200 pi, but still below limits), but the po was non exsistant. there were less than 1000 total errors on the entire disk. Look at the link above for a beter idea of quality.
Fyi, if they are out, ask if there is a substitution. Ask if there are rainchecks. Ask if the raincheck is good with the rebate, and when they tell you no, say, that is not the deal you had advertised (but be nice about it). Often if they substitute, the rebate will not work, so they have to give you the after rebate price. I got 100 imation +r (4 25 paks-ricohjpn01) for 40$, out the door, instead of princos that were on sale once. They have no disclaimers in there adds about avalability(at least here in Texas) like limited to supply on hand, limited quantities etc., so legally in most states, if you push the issue, they have to give you something (though they can put you off till later saying they will come in.
Fyi, I don't think the managers can susbstitute by choice. I am guessing, if lots of stores are out, corperate contacts them and tells them what they may substitute. I do know that they get a substitution list for their adds (but do not know how it works). It may be a day or two after they run out, before thay can substitute. Perhaps they just get the substitution list mid week or something. Be nice, but persistant, and you can get deals.

This is my personal experience...and I could be the only one that hasn't had issues. But at least there is a ray of hope.
Give them a try if you bought them. -
I agree. I don't think LordSmurf's rating of CMC media as 4th class is accurate. Its his view.Sure their CD-R and older discs were no good but their 4x DVD+R and DVD-R have improved a lot and many people have had favourable results.
Again, there will always be people for whom it doesn't work. But then it happens for Ritek, Ricoh and lot others. Doesn't mean we start labeling all as garbage.
So, rather than go for someone else's opinion, I would suggest you form your own.
Cheers.
