I'm just starting to explore the world of video capture (the result of lots of camcorder footage of a young baby).
I only have a Celeron 533, with 160MB RAM - am I wasting my time even trying with this spec? If not, what is the best capture card to complement this?
All advice welcome...

NO you are not wasting your time. Celeron is perfectly capable of doing a good capture. it may not turn out as clear and briliant as some of the high end computers will give you but it will give you a decent product you can be proud of.
Don't be discouraged by some of the system settings that you read in the FAQ's. Those people put out some serious loot to get that sort of Quality.
Happy Capturing. Good Luck. -
Agreed.
I've done all of my capturing on a Celeron 366 with only 96MB RAM. I am using a hardware-based MPEG capture solution however. (Dazzle DVC I USB) The results are surprisingly good. -
I have 2 computers one is a PIII600 etc for my dvd work and a celeron 466 with 32 megs of ram with great results. You have more than enough firepower to make good vcd's etc. As long as your hard drive is UDMA 66 or higher. Good Luck!
Thanks John
