  1. Alright, here's my situation. I just recently purchased a new DVD R-RW drive. It works just fine. I am in the process of making a VHS of mine into a DVD. Using the Sonic MyDVD software, I have captured all the video from the VHS onto my hard drive. I have also made my DVD project, changed the background picture, frame color, text color, etc. Now, on the bottom left-hand corner of the MyDVD software window, it tells you how much space you have left on the DVD. Well, on this project, it says I have 0.00 MB left, and by looking at that size counter after adding each video to the project, if my math is correct, the software thinks there is 5.2 GB or so on the project. HOWEVER, I went into Windows Explorer, and checked the size of the folder that has the .mpg files of all the videos I'm using in it, and nothing but those .mpg files in it. The folder's size is 3.84 GB. I am completely baffled as to why the MyDVD software is saying I have no space left on the 4.7 GB DVD when all the video I'm using takes only 3.84 GB according to Windows Explorer. Also, in the MyDVD software, the 'Burn' button is grayed out on this project, like there's too much there to burn to one DVD. But all the video only comes to 3.84 GB. Does anybody have any idea why the MyDVD software is doing this? I am desperate for help.

    Search Comp PM
Sonic MyDVD reconverts all the audio to pcm/wav and then it becomes bigger. PCM is about 10MB/min while compressed mpa or ac3 audio is around 2-4 MB/minute.

Use another authoring tool that doesn't reconvert the audio like tmpgenc dvd author, dvd-lab or sonic mydvd deluxe(choose to convert to ac3 audio).
