  1. I have been using EZ CD Creator 4 without problem to burn data and audio disks. I have just begun to try to burn VCD disks, without success.

I have tried to create VCD disks of small MPEG-1 files created using MGI's Videowave 4 program, using the VCD template which is supposed to prepare the files in the correct technical format. I have followed EZ CD Creator's Video CD Creator application instructions, and though the record process looks like it proceeds without errors, the finished CD will not play on my home DVD player (which specifically states that it supports VCD) nor will it play on a computer DVD-CD combo drive.

I have tried burning using the EZ CD Creator's "wizard" and directly from the program interface. I have also attempted to burn by creating a CD from a layout as well as burning from a disk image. None of these methods proved successful.

I have examined the files on the burned CDs and noted that six folders are created on the disks. They are: KARAOKE, MPEGAV, SEGMENT,CDDA, CDI & VCD. All these are empty except for the MPEGAV & VCD folders. The MPEGAV folder has two files MUSIC01.DAT & MUSIC02.DAT. These are large and so I assume they are the video files, but I don't understand why the name "MUSIC.DAT". (Could this relate to my problem?)
The VCD folder has files named: ENTRIES.VCD,INFO.VCD,LOT.VCD,PSD.VCD. These are rather small(1k or 2K) except for the LOT.VCD file which is 64k.

Can you help me in getting up and running on this?

    Thanks

  3. My home DVD player's manual says it plays VCDs. The disks I burn also don't play on my computer's DVD drive.

I thought about trying Nero, but I have a newish burner that is not supported, according to their web site.

Any other help you can give?

  4. Might be that your DVD player doesn't play home-burned VCD's. Some players play professionally made VCD's fine, but not VCD's burned at home. I know that the VCD you make at home is different from the type you buy, but not sure exactly what the difference is. Might want to buy or get a professionaly made one from a friend to see if it plays on your player.

You can always go to the tools section on the left there and go to VCD players, install one. I personally like ScVCD it is pretty cool with lots of functions.
Burn your VCD in EZCreator using EZ CD creators way of making VCD's and see if it will play on your 'puter.
That way you can narrow down what you're doing wrong. If it work on puter not on DVD player then it is your DVD player.
Also check compatabitly chart. Also on left menu.

  10. I don't agree that Nreo is far better than ECDC5. I used ECDC5 for ages (and v4 before that) with excellent results. The only reason I switched to Nero is I wanted to use 99min disks which I couldn't do with ECDC5.
Plus, I always found ECDC5 much more user friendly the Nero too, which is great when you first start out.

  11. I too have a Panasonic RV65 (I dont think Pioneer makes a RV65 this is a Panasonic model) and my CDR VCD dont work either. They work on Windows Media Player, but no luck with the DVD. I was told to try a CDRW, I am going to try that if it works I will pass the info on to you. I used TMPGEnc to convert the movie to mpg and I used EasyVCD and CDRWin. Try these programs they worked for me and they were pretty easy for me and I too am I newbie.

Get TMPGEnc here http://www.tmpgenc.com/ and get Easy VCD here http://www.dvd-wizards.com/vcdhelp/VCDEasy_v1.0.4.zip

Then just follow the instructions offered in this wonderful site.

Hey Paul. I have the same problem with files created with Video Waves 4. The VCD will play on the computer but not on the stand alone Player. I re-code the file using TmpegEnc, and burn with Nero. The VCD will now play in my DVD Player. I don't know why it is like that, it just does.

  14. Yes, RWs work. I tried 5 different brands of CD-Rs burned with Nero, EZ CD Creator 4 & 5 and no combination worked for me except the RWs.

I don't know why this is, but I will accept it. Now the next question is, will SVCD work?
