I know this sounds stupid, but I write on my DVDs with a permanent marker pen, whats the best stuff to use to remove it if I make a mistake.

Isopropyl alcohol works for me. Use the 90%, works better than the regular 70% for taking Sharpie mistakes off. Works best if the writing is fresh, or you might have some faint residual traces.

    Bit of a misnoma really!!

However, yes you can remove it.

The best fluid to use kinda depends on exactly what pen you got. (and sometimes the surface you are writing on)

I would suggest you use a sample disc, (preferably a coaster from earlier work) to practice on.

Any of the following may be the best solution (no pun intended)
    • Isopropyl Alcohol
    • Methylated Spirits
    • White Spirit (may work tho i dont recommend it, as it leaves a fine film
    • Gasoline (bizarre and VERY dangerous to **** around with, but a good solvent)
    • Turpentine
Although it may well work, for the price i wouldnt recommend any propriatry fluid like lense cleaner.

First choice probably Isoprop (higher % the better)

BE WARNED SOME OF THE ABOVE ARE HAMRFUL TO YOUR DISK AND YOURSELF

  5. If you wish to remove it, do any of the following:

    1. Paint thinner + Blow Torch.
    2. Place it in the microwave for 10-15 seconds. Say goodbye to annoying marker scribbles forever!
    3. Motor Oil (get the 5w30 kind if you can)

Sounds bizzare - but if it's just a small mistake - write over the mistake with the same permenant marker and quickly wipe it all off before it dries...

Not a great result I know .... but handy when you've used the last of you're misses nail varnish remover ...

    M.E.K.
    Zylene
    Gasoline
    Toluelyne
    Alcohol 99%
Sandpaper (but this will cause scratches)
You can also just scrape the coating off the disc with a screwdriver, but of course you're
    data will be toast.

brake cleaner works great for stains on your carpet. Just spray it on there, it has a powerful blast too.
