Can I just change the extension of a VOB to .mpg. Most programs I have do not directly accept VOB files. The VOB will be a decrypted VOB with a single audio, video (mpeg-2), and subtitles stream.

is a VOB file the same structure as a MPG type file? will this serve my purpose?

    THANKS!!

Changing the extension has been known to work about 80% of the time. It is best to use Virtual Dub mod and frameserve to TMPGEnc Plus.

I have TMPGEnc Plus, but never used Virtual Dub mod. What basically does this tool/software do? does it remove the streams are something from the VOB?

    Thanks again!

Actually, it does not do anything to your VOBs. It's just it opens virtually all VOBs, and is able to frameserve them directly to TMPGEnc Plus without saving them. I haven't found any other application that can do this. Even TMPGEnc can only do it some 80% of the time.

Frameserving is just manipulating your source files, applying filters, resizing, edits & whatnot and feeding it to your encoder directly without having to save your processed source to a new file.
