  1. Anyone here currently serving or has served recently (say past 10 years) in it's country's defence force? What have been the benefits/advantages and the cons/disadvantages you've experienced?

Through my university the Australian Defence Force is trying to recruit graduates and the salary/benefits they are offering are quite good so I've started thinking a bit more seriously about this career path.

    The benefits you get are:

$17,000-27,000 salary whilst you are still studying at university.
    University costs paid for completely.
    Subsidised accomodation whilst at university.
    $48,000 starting salary.

    The downsides:

Have to sign on for 3 years minimum.

Is it not a decision ya should make based on yr projected earnings after ya graduate?
How long till ya graduate? Whats yr degree on?
Is it gonna be easy to find a job after ya do?
And how much will be yr salary in the private sector for the 3 yrs you will have to sign up 4 with the Force after graduation?
