You have specify that DVDDecrypter rip in File Mode, not ISO Mode for Shrink to use it. But DVDShrink will rip without that first step (without going into the pros and cons). You can create an ISO image as a step preparatory to burning, it's one way to do it.
To make it as simple as possible your first go, you could do this: Run DVDShrink 3.17, open disk, click backup, specify where to place the output, and it will automatically compress and output the new file. Run IMG Tools Classic (freeware) and click the parent folder created by Shrink in which reside the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders. Specify where it is to place the ISO. Click Image. Put a rewritable disc in your burner. Run DVDDecrypter and click Mode>ISO>Write. Enter the ISO in source and click DVD. That's it. When done, check it on your standalone player. Then you can get into selective compression or reauthoring if you wish. Good luck.Pull! Bang! Darn! -
Latest beta version of DVD Shrink is even easier ... it rips, shrinks, creates an ISO and burns it , utilising DVD Decrypters ISO/Write function .... truly now a "one click" freeware solution.

Just one way to do it freeware only. DVDDecrypter will only burn ISO images, and DVDShrink doesn't output ISO images, unless there's a brand new feature I've missed. Oh, I just checked the newest Shrink, apparently it CAN open Disk Image. Try the above method anyway, see if it works for you. Maybe you don't know it yet, but there are lots of ways to do backups, and some ways likely will not work on your computer, for unexplained reasons.Originally Posted by Banshay
And defrag your hard drive(s) first. If you install DVDShrink on a fragmented HD, I've found it can make Shrink act strangely for awhile. And I have all versions on my computer.

DVD Shrink will indeed produce and burn an ISO image and providing DVD Decrypter is installed, it will burn it too, utilising DVD Decryper's ISO/Write.
The new beta is v.3.1.7.1.5 ... been out about a week now and it works fine. -
Jeez, ANOTHER version already? Or have I missed a feature, I've only used 3.17 once so far(?) Well, the above method still holds good if you'd like to try it. As I said, lots of ways to do it, if you get stuck try another. Eventually, you'll probably want to try various methods anyway to find the one you like best.Originally Posted by Phil ThomasPull! It's a new feature ... In the BACKUP menu under Select Target Device, there's a new option "ISO Disc Image". When you select this, a new box pops up (bottom left) "Launch DVD Decrypter to Burn Output Image" -
Cool, I'll give it a go. Guess this makes AUTOShrinkISO somewhat redundant. But AUTOShrink is nice in that you can clean up all files automatically on exit, don't suppose the newest DVDShrink can do that? I wouldn't be surprised. Thanks for setting me straight.Originally Posted by Phil Thomas
