I have my DVD and VCR connected to a A/B Box and then into the TV.
The VCR works fine, but, the DVD will not play. I don't get any signal at all.
I have them connected via AV cables. I have read the manuals and checked my connections several times. I can find nothing wrong with the connections.
Why does the VCR work and the DVD does not?

does the dvd player work OK when connected directly to the TV ? If so, mebbe bad switch box... or wrong hookup.
Always check helpfiles/instructions before leaping... -
Are you using the same output connector from the DVD player when going directly to the tv or through the switch. My player has a menu selection option to identify which connector I am using. If I use the svideoor a/v etc.. then I have to select it in the DVD setup. Maybe your player is the same.
Barring that, I would reverse all connections between the vcr and DVD that way if the vcr stops working and the DVD now works it will easily identify any bad cable or switchbox problem. -
Thanks, Wolf for your help. You were absolutely right. I went through my set up again and changed the settings and it works great.
Thanks again,
Bud
