I just picked an ADVC-100 and my Dell 8300 is no recognizing the unit. I remember reading about this problem in this forum, but I am unable to find where I read it. Does anyone know the fix for this. thanks

I kind of remember that, basically Dell screwed up the Windows installation and there are some files related to the firewire that are missing or corrupt. Good expample of why, when you buy a ready made system, first thing you should do, after making sure they gave you all the discs you're supposed to have, is wipe the hard drive and start over. I just set up my mom's new Compaq laptop over Christmas and they left 8GB of her 40GB hard drive unformatted and unpartitioned.
