  1. yo
long time since my last visit here !

need feed back with people who run ati all in wonder radeon and
have try MMC8... and higher , i like the last 8800 very much because
of mpeg4 capability ( divX ? ) , but my recording mode always stay
at "TV ON DEMAND" , so i cant record directly to a file , i have read
the last MMC manuel , and cant figure how to disable tv on demand ?

anybody know how to permanently disable this feature , i dont like it any
    way ?

    thanks

  3. i had a chance to read your web site a little lordsmurf. wow , lots of info !
forums people will learn a lot with good techs like you , thanks

i have think about sending you an email , and you got to my post , good

ok , i have update to MMC 8800 , and change display driver too ,
and i can record to a file only ounce or 2 , after that , the TV on demand option become "on" and i simply cant turn it off !

just to be sure about a clean install , i then remove everything( add remove apps ,mmc than display and capture ), after i go regedit , and also remove all ati keys , and rebout

re-done a complete instal , (last display-capture package than MMC8800 ) same problem again , is it only me , or other people have TV on demand bugging around ?

as a reminder for ATi begginers , when TV ON DEMAND is activated , the regular record to file option dont work anymore .

i stick with MMC to save some time to cature directly to SVCD or now to mpeg4 , wich i would love to get working ( is it possible to capture directly to divx with other version of MMC ? )

    thanks to any help

  4. I had a similar problem when I got my 9000 pro a few weeks ago. I originally was using the drivers that came with it along with MMC 8.1
I have since updated it (from ATI's website) to to MMC 8.7 and the latest Catalyst drivers and now it all works fine (except for when I change channels with the remote the image goes to full screen, but I updated to the 2.2 driver, so now I may have to uninstall and downgrade to 2.0).

    Just my 2 cents.

  5. as a detail to find a solution , i re-install an image of my hard drive, and then go back to previous display and MMC , and the same problem append ,seem to be relied to a shipset update ( via , for AMD cpu )
    or modified boot sector

i also think that my motherboard is none compatible with that GPU
( ECS K7VZA ) , and my system is always freezing randomely ?

  6. ok i find a solution , and its big , completely format and start
from original windows display driver , and re-install

with Ati aiw radeon , the best way to have a cleen working new install is
to keep an "image" ( i use norton ghost ) of windows OS without anu ATi
apps instaled , and just re'install it before try new releasee.

ATi are very bad for there driver cleaning methode !

the new MMC 8800 is really good for me , the latest incredible improvement
was SVCD compliant codec , and now i have mpeg4 (divX) codec ready to
capture with, no edit or compresse time lost , the what MMC made for ,
    TIME saving !
( if you have enouth time to instale it ! )

Newer versions of MMC have an "uninstall" subdirectory (no shortcuts to it, though) with a program in it that removes *all* ATI info from your system. Reg keys, software, all of it. Try that next time. It cleared up a couple of problems I was having and is a *lot* easier than a format/reinstall.

  8. thanks haloblack

i didnt find uninstall file in MMC8800 folder ?

ounce anybody think he has remove everything from ati ,
do a search in c: with ati*

i have discover that document and setting folder contain
specifiq files to configure the MMC for different user , and i'm
not sure if ati remove them ? and it was probably my issue

with that search setting , while ati is install on my machine ,
i get 244 files and 17 folders ! and we didnt get the registry yet ......

  9. Hi All,

I've just upgraded too, got the XP3200+ and the Hercules 9800 SE VIVO card with which i'm using 'softmodded' Cat3.10 drivers to turn it into a 9800 Pro VIVO (swift card!). The control panel and WDM drivers remain unchanged by the 'soft-mod' author.

I live on the PAL side of the Atlantic (UK) and i've just bought a nice new AIWA 5950G vcr to provide the capture source.
Just re-installed XP and havent even unboxed my new vcr yet.

So is the MMC8.8 buggy or not? And is it the best solution for capturing with? I hope so.

Finally, I downloaded the "mmc-8-1-0-0-dao-mdac.exe" and also the "atiCDwiz-v2-1.exe". What are those, please?

    Thanks,

    B1.

  10. Sorry, just one thing I need to clarify, do modern ATI VIVO cards disable macrovision (from source) by default? As in, I dont need the reg files from Smurfs site.

    Cheers,

    B1.

  11. with a nice cleen install ( fresh ! ) mmc8800 works good to me ,i
made nice movie cap in mpeg4 "theatre" 640X480 , and
its a lot better than SVCD , or best WMV.

i use my APEX AD-1500 DVD player for macro bypass , didnt try smurf
patch yet . with this setup , it take me no longer than the actual movie
to made a copy of it , thats what MMC made fore .

about VIVO feature , you become to "technical " for me , sorry .
but i think that newer material meen more protection !
