You can rename it from .image to .img or .dmg, and MacOS X or Toast should be able to mount and/or burn it.Originally Posted by TugBoat

I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

what I want to know is how are you checking for the presence of RCE protection ?!
-
No go in 10.3.2 on my Dual PM or my TiBook, I tried it twice on the Dual. DVDExtractor says error..., Disk Utility says no mountable file system, DropDMG says What?, this type of image can't be over 2GBs...., Toast says are you sure this is a disc image and then proceeds to hang.... It works fine on the TiBook booted into OS9, but doesn't remove/fix RCE checking, not surprising as Extractor was developed before RCE.You can rename it from .image to .img or .dmg
I also tried the Dual OSEx method on the Ti with MIB II, same same....
As mentioned earlier, ifoedit will detect RCE checking when you hit the Region Free button in ifoedit. As I value second opinions, I found that DVDDecrypter added RCE detection around mid '02. They now have some sort of 'RCE Checking' warning built-in. You can also have DVDDecrypter manually check the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and it will report the presence/non-presence of RCE. The once highly vaulted 'SmartRipper' has been stuck at ver.2.4.1 forever and doesn't deal with RCE. I don't use PC rippers much as they are extremely slow in VPC and RealPC. ifoedit seems to be the best method.what I want to know is how are you checking for the presence of RCE protection
I tried DVDDecrypter on MIB II, it did fix 'RCE Checking', after 2.5 hours of ripping....
It appears that the 'official' fix is to change every instance of "Pre Command Set GPreg<9> mov SPreg<player region code>" to "Pre Command Set GPreg<9> mov (set-val)<1>". See my post on the 2nd page of the Hades thread for more details. Blackhawk Down has one instance of "Pre Command Set GPreg<9> mov SPreg<player region code>" in the VIDEO_TS.IFO file, MIB II has SIX of them. Fun Fun....

ok makes since... i thought you were using some OSX app i had no idea existed or you had some special dvd player that woudl tell you it was still there
-
Nope, nothing special here. I'm just like all the other Mac users here, up the creek without a pad.. er ripper :P
-
nah, were not all up the creek
only those who like to go from one region to the next and play thier disks in other countries
i could care less if my rips have RCE they play in my player and thats all that matters to me (remember, this is for personal backing up) not for giving to others! -
Yeah, so far I've been unaffected as well. However, I do travel abroad and my backups are in a CD carrier that travels with me. I can see the day coming when......
Of course, I do take my Ti along, so it shouldn't be a complete disaster

as long as you get that international converter, no problem!Originally Posted by TugBoat
