  1. I am authoring a DVD from a single MPEG2 file encoded by Tempgenc Plus. The file has video from two different years. I wanted the main menu to have a selection for one year, and another for the second year; then set chapters for the respective years on the sub menus.

To do this, I added the file as track 1, chopped off the end, and added chapters. Then I added the same file as track 2, chopped off the front and added chapters. TDA tells me I have 2.7 Gig total of material, which is what I expect.

When I prepare the DVD image and try to burn, it tells me the files are too big for the DVD. When I look in the DVD file, there are two track directories, but each directory has 2.7 in it, for a combined total of 5.4 gig. It appears that Tempgenc has not cut the end off the second file and duplicated the entire file in each directory.

Is this expected behavior? (I have done this once before with TDA and it worked.)

  2. just after selecting the split ponts, did you remember to open the "edit menu" dropdown box in order to confirm/finalize your split points ?

if you did it correctly, you would have seen the blue timeline expend from about halfway to full across.... then, you would have set your chapter points and hit OK to close the "Add Clip" screen and continue....
