First of all as there is no forum on printers i hope that this is the right place to post this if not then please feel free to move to correct forum.

Anyway onto my little problem reguarding this Printer, when i now print onto DVD-r's it will print no problem but the image is off centre

Let me explain, look at the following pic....

This is the image before it is printed and as you can see it is perfect centre'd.

    Now look at this pic....

Now you can see what i mean at the top and just below the middle the image is now off centre'd.

I've tried using the allign print positin but it doesn't seem to move the image.

Any of the other printers i've i had before i've been able to calibrate them so that i can get perfect centred prints.

But with this printer is is no such option.

Does ne1 know what could be causing this or how to fix it, thought i'd asked here first before contacging TECH support.

For those who need it the DVD-r's i'm using are 4xspeed Infosmart01.

  2. The only time I ever had that problem with my Epson 900 was when I didn't do a good job of visual alignment of the tray or the tray "guide" was not snug with the tray (snug but not tight). I suspect in your case you don't have the guide set right.

Bob W thx for the quick reply.

Funny you should say that, i was just thinking it myself .

Although before i printed this disc, it did look aligned correctly but i'll make sure on my next print.

Also try cleaning the caddy with glass cleaner, and also run a printer cleaning sheet through your printer. That problem could be caused by the caddy slipping as it is fed through the printer. Or it could be the alignment problem. One of those 2 problems would be my choice.

I think that you have the alignment problem. I have discs that look exactly like yours do (miss-alignment wise), and they were due to me not making sure that the caddy was snug to the RIGHT side (was snugging to the LEFT). I rotated my printer 90 degrees so I could pay attention to what I was doing, and the problem disappeared. I also put an arrow and a note on my caddy that says, "Align to THIS side!!".

Good tips from the others; looks like you have not only an alignment problem (which you can manually stretch to fit correctly, if nothing else) but also need to reset your quality and source settings. I was getting a washed out appearance until I changes from CD/DVD to photo quality inkjet source settings and enhanced photo. Now the covers come out perfect, you will use more ink but to me the quality is worth the ink.

Thx Doggiedaddy for the tip on the quality setting, i guess Epson put the Default print Quality so that you would save on the Ink.

I'll try the Quality setting on my next print.

  9. If you run your hand round the back of the printer where you slot the caddy in on one side there is a stop, if when you have aligned the white lines on the front of the caddy just press the stop lightly against the caddy to ensure its in the correct place.
Even with doing this i still have to set offset of .5mm vert and 1mm horz.

There are calibration settings in the printer settings under windows but you need very good eyesite or an maginfier to spot which lines are aligned with each other.....
