  1. not sure how many of you PV256T owner are out there.
but I got the PV256T for almost a week and tried driver 1.4 & 1.6 and it's been hell.

It won't run in Win98 (tried both drivers version on two different machines) the capture software usual cause a page falt and crash when I try to load it.

in W2K it loads but the program is not stable. it sometimes reset my machine...

Are you fellow PV256 owners haveing a hard time getting the capture sotware to run and experience alot of bugs with the drivers/app too?

now I"m thinking I might got a flaky card... (I might need new rams too it might be that.)

  2. just update.

I got the cap software to run under W98 by using "direct draw" as the preivew screen.

but the problem is that when I click on record it records like nomral but when I save to a file it give me a "0" byte size mpeg file?! $#%#%

I just check the provideo website to see if tehre's any updated drivers.. something strange I saw..

only several days ago I saw 1.4 & 1.6 version drivers listed now it's not on the page anymore..

all I see is v1.3?! strange. . downloading it now. gonna give it a try

  3. Your right v1.4 and V1.6 have disappeared. Don't know why.
Hope V1.3 works for you. However it is most likely a IRQ sharing problem. The Pv256 doesn't always like sharing interupts with certain cards. Also the PV256 is unlikely to work with motherboards with video or sound or both onboard.
And also doesn't like certain VIA chipsets.
If you don't get it to go tell us what your machine is.
We want it to go for you so can give your opinion.

  4. I have a PV256T installed in my Abit BH6 / Celeron 300A (@450) Win98SE system and I have no problems with installation, TV viewing or recording from TV tuner (haven't tried external source yet). You need DirectX8.
I tried v1.3, v1.4 and v1.6 drivers and apps. They all worked for me, but v1.4 and v1.6 were much buggier than v1.3 - I'm not surprised they pulled them off their site (if they were in fact pulled).

The card has great potential but the immature software is going to kill it. I wish they would concentrate on writing fully-comliant WDM drivers, then people could use other software for TV-viewing and recording.
