    Hi,

I was not sure where to put this so I'll try here first. I purchased a Dazzle DVC II over a year ago and am ready to give it another try but i can't find the original install CD and they only let you download patches at the Dazzle site... Does anyone know of any faster option than contacting the Dazzle people and begging for a new cd? Thats supposing they they have any left! If anyone can clone a copy and post it on the news groups or let me download it from them I would be very greatful! I have Cable 1.5mbit. 200k+ downloads or if anyone could refer me to a site where i can download it from. Thanks for any help on this matter!

If this is topic is not allowed sorry in advance! But I don't see how it could be considered warez cause I have the hardware! I have every right to the software.

    Thanks again!

Well last I knew - there were full install versions for XP available
Free to use as well - since they only work with the DVC II card
    http://www.spawns.dk/svcd/
Note - this does NOT include the MPEG codecs or authoring tools included on the CD install
Only the drivers and Moviestar program - which allows you to capture
Although if you just want to capture without mess - go with bugsy

I have the issue CD available. only problem I had with the Dazzle and MovieStar is no audio embedded into theMPG. Solutions is turn off preview in the options so all you see will recording is a still and no video. That solved my problem.

  4. I would not even bother...

I looked at some SVCDs I made with it over a year ago, and they really are complete crap....

The damm card doesn't work alot of the time, giving you that dreaded error message and beleive me I have tried everything to fix it....I even resodered the card to get it to fit properly in the slot...nop, still didn't work...

I would buy a cheap capturing card in uncompressed avi and convert it to whatever format you wanted instead of being stuck in crappy mpeg encodings done by the dazzel or drivel..whatever you call it....

    poerschr,
I think you are a little harsh on the Dazzle DVC II. I have used this card for over 120 DVD captures from Sat Dish and VHS and it works very good. It is quirky, but it does produce Exellent DVD's (No thanks to Moviestar and DVDit).

    Moondog,
As d_knife said, go to the spawn site. Everything you need there to capture. try Tmpgenc for authoring and either TWNH 1958 or Bugsy for capture (I use TWNH 1958 as I have Win98/SE), The 1.38 drivers should work for Win98-Win2K and the 1.40 drivers are for XP.

This is a GOOD card for capturing! It's a matter of just figuring it out and most importantly giving it an unshared IRQ!!!

With my DVCII setup I found that splitting the video in feed to a external monitor and turning off the preview during capture solved all problems
no audio sync issue / very little cpu usage ~15% during mpeg2 capture
I have captured 2hrs straight 720x576 without audio drift or any other issue
Also I found the card to do an excellent job at producing CVD's
352x576 ( pal ) at 4mbps "vbr" although vbr with only one datarate setting?!?!?!
anyway - the quality was very very good

Thanks for the reply! But the links to Dazzle 4.21 full install are bad.
on Spawn's site. And Dazzle is ignoring my email's... Gonna call tomorrow.

I also have a ATI All-In-Wonder radeon card... The Dazzle is newer and I would love to get it to work. But if all else fails its ATI time...

  9. I was able to download a free full version on Moviestar 5.2 from the Dazzle support furom earlier this year. I still have the ZIP file on my hardrive, its only 16mb. The support forum is probably gone no, it wasn't much help anyway.

Moviestar 5.2 is not designed for the DVC II
4.24 is the latest version for the DVC II

although what I said ealier still stands
ditch moviestar - download the 1.40 XP drives for spawn's site and use bugsy
Unless you REALLY want to do your editing in Moviestar, bugsy beats it hands down
    Bugsy is MUCH MUCH smaller
    has less bugs
    more features
and has proper profiles that actually work
