I have tried every single method available to backup DVDs and after them all i can safely say DVD Shrink is 2nd in terms of quality to CCE which makes it the best quality fast DVD Backup method, BUT all it needs to be the ultimate tool is the option to untick extras while keeping Menus,
EG if there s big extra you dont care about but a few small ones like out-takes u want that would be a great use, and yes i like keeping menus.
If only they could implement this small feature i would never use anything other than Shrink its superb.

good luck. -
yes i have tried them all and those 2 do not compete with DVD Shrink in quality LIKE i said, foremost i want quality thats why i use Shrink secondly i want features like removing extras, Also clone DVD was crap at removing extras as when played back on standalone if you click on a removed extra it just sits there until you click menu button on remote, it should skip passed onto next extra.

the method i proposed does the same thing according to a responder. the original menu might have links to the extras that were on the disc that is not in the shrunken fileset thta is fed into DVD Fab. just don't click on them.when played back on standalone if you click on a removed extra it just sits there

there's a few more unwanted video content stripping tools
MenuEdit, DVDStripper can selectively strip a DVD of unwanted video content and Menuedit will also allow you to disable or remove buttons
IC8 can remove titles and shrink the DVD but some have issues with payback -
I found IC7/8 to have great extra removing features, very easy todo and when played in standalone if you click a removed extra it just skips to next extra, but the quality is not as good as DVD Shrink 3 Beta 5 its got a horrible size issue nearly impossible to get an exact size every time and it takes twice as long to encode,
if only DVD Shrink had the same kind of extra removing features as IC

I'm still looking for the day when Shrink is able to keep the menus while reauthoring...

it does, in a sense. did you read my replay and previous thread? what do you think? are you going to try it? it works, and works well.if only DVD Shrink had the same kind of extra removing features -
Yes thx noki i am gona give your guide a go thanks sounds very good but i am sure you would agree just unticking a box in the program would be a great addition to DVD Shrink
As for quality yeah i am going on my eyes. I encoded the same movie with about 6 different programs including CCE,
Obviously CCE gave the best results on a 8 Pass method but it took hours and hours
DVD Shrink was definately the next best and takes about 1 Hour if you use Deep analyse (that includes ripping)
the rest including instant copy was very simular but instant copy has that anoying size problem and takes longer.MAC -
I think many of us would happily pay for DVD Shrink... but dont tell the author.

Thats an option in Version 3 Beta 5 which scans the whole movie before shrinking to get an idea of where the action scenes are etc so you get better quality results, i always use it, but some say you dont need to if its only a small bit of compression, 1 Hour to do a full movie is fine for me though.Originally Posted by neoterixxMAC

are you talking about Nero as a burning tool or Nero Recode or both?Originally Posted by energy80s
anyway they both work for me and it's a matter of personal opinion whether they do or not but I don't want to start another Nero 'suxs' issue so let's forget about Nero and burning
you dont have to burn with Nero when using Nero Recode

neoterixx, if you want a technical explanation as to how Deep Analysis works and what it does, please read dvdshrink's post in the following thread.

DvdShrink is awesome. I have IC and DvdxcopyXpress but I don't use them any more. I only use DvdShrink now.
