    This is my first time so i hope some one can help
    a friend gave me some DVD'S witch are VCD's put onto DVD
    I Have A Teac DV2150 DVD Player
    when i play these movies the picture is all crap but the sound is ok
    and if i run the movie at 2X the movie is ok but no sound is there a way i can fix this problem
    on my pc they work fine

    Do you mean that the were in vcd format and you converted them to dvd?

    If they have been authored as a VCD-DVD, then this is a non standard format, and as such is not guaranteed to play on all DVD players. You may just be unlucky and have a player that can't play VCD-DVD. Have you tried the disc in any other DVD players.

    yes they were vcds but i did not convert them
    i did try on a friends Dvd Player and they worked fine
    but is there a way to convert them to work on my dvd player

    Well, according to this, your player should play vcd's. If they dont, then yes, there is a way to convert but first you have to decide what you want to burn as(dvd or vcd).

    i would like to copy them to my hard drive fix them up and
    burn back as DVDs

    there are 3 directorys on the dvds
    is"t got the normal Audio_ts & Video_ts
    the third one is Uleaddmf so i think it has been done with
    ulead DVD MovieFactory or Workshop could these programs cause the problem i have heard they are not very good

    Well Guys
    Thanks for your replys i have read through the Forums and come up with this
    Step 1 .Intervideo DVD Copy.. To copy to Hdd as 2 * Vcd Mpegs about 1Hr
    Step 2. Tmpgenc ..To Join & Convert to Pal DVD Mpeg about 4-5 Hrs
    Step 3. Ulead DVD Movie Factor ...To Make Vob Files 30 mins
    Then DVD Shrink & Nero to Burn 30 mins
    they work fine
    if you think this process is to long can you give me a short cut
