When i record small movie clips from my p31 sony camera, and transfer them onto my computer, windows media player displays the length about 80 percent shorter than what it is, although it plays the entire clip.
The problem is minor but when i use tmpenc's mpeg tools to try and edit the mpegs, the same error occurs, if i move the slider to the end of the bar, the thumbnail of the video shows the end of the clip, but the timeframe reads only 20 percent of the actual length and only edits within that time when i save the new mpg.
any reason why this is? thnx.

How big is the movie? Are your hard drives formatted using FAT32? What version of Windows are you using? We need more information before we can help you out.

My system is running windows xp home with NTFS, the size of one of my clips is 775kb, and has a length of approx. 30 seconds, although wmp and tmpgenc only display a length of 6 sec (or about 20 percent of total length), however, this is the case with all my mpegs recorded from my camera regardelss of size.
